Location
Corcovado National Park is located on the Pacific coast of the Osa Peninsula, in the province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica.
Corcovado belongs to the tropical humid forest life zone of the South Pacific region and is considered one of the most important protected areas in the country for the conservation of its flora and fauna.
This park is recognized as a true natural laboratory, where national and international scientists conduct research on the structure, function, and interaction of tropical ecosystems.
The extremely humid forests of Corcovado, with annual rainfall exceeding 5,000 mm, represent the last significant portion of the Mesoamerican Pacific Tropical Rainforest.
Due to its location, climate conditions, soil characteristics, and topography, the park hosts an extraordinary biological diversity, which has generated great interest for scientific research and environmental education programs.

The climate in the park is warm, rainy, and very humid.
Approximately 500 tree species have been identified in Corcovado, representing about one quarter of all tree species found in Costa Rica.
